Asset Distribution
The Cincinnati property division lawyers of Robbins, Kelly, Patterson & Tucker, A Legal Professional Association (RKPT) represent clients in all manner of divorce-related issues and disputes. Focusing on exceptional client-focused service, we have been serving the Tri-State Area of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana since 1965.
Ohio is an "equitable distribution" state. While the court will try to split the assets between the divorcing spouses 50/50, the court will certainly deviate from that if it will result in a distribution of assets that is more equitable. Our Ohio divorce lawyers have a thorough understanding of the laws and procedures regarding:
- Identifying marital property: The court will distribute all assets shared by the divorcing spouses as equitably as possible. It is essential to single out the items and moneys that should not be counted as marital assets to be divided.
- Dividing complex, diversified assets and debts: We have experience handling high asset divorces, dividing real estate, ownership interests in businesses, personal injury damage awards, pensions and retirement plans, automobiles and inherited assets.
- Collaborative law: Collaborative law is a process for solving divorce-related disputes outside of the contentious courtroom forum. We have experience helping clients work out an asset distribution agreement that will be acceptable to both parties and will be seen as equitable in the eyes of the court.
We are proud of the fact that many of our clients have been with us for many years. They stay with us because they appreciate our experience, dedication and client-centered service, as well as our ability to handle issues that arise in many different legal practice areas. At RKPT, we believe that the best attorney-client experience is based on a relationship of trust, dedication and service.
