RKPT in the Community

We have deep roots in Cincinnati and in the surrounding Tri-State Area communities. We know the importance of being a positive presence in the community by volunteering within the legal community and with numerous local charities. The attorneys and staff here at RKPT know that the strength of a community depends on the willingness of its members to put forth time and effort to the betterment of the community.

ALS Association

Established in 1985, The ALS Association (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Assn) is the only national nonprofit organization fighting ALS on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances the quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.

As the preeminent ALS organization, The Association leads the way in research, care services, public education, and public policy — giving help and hope to those facing the disease. The Association provides comprehensive patient services and support to the ALS community. The mission of The ALS Association is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

In August the ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio called on RKPT and other local businesses to participate in the 2023 Business Community Challenge. The goal was to raise $2,500. Because of the generosity of employees, friends, and family, they were able to meet and exceed the goal.

Habitat for HumanityHabitat for humanity picture

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization committed to giving hardworking, low-income people a hand up, not a hand out.

All across America, individuals and families struggle to find affordable places to live. Habitat seeks to remedy this injustice by providing low-income people the opportunity to realize their dreams of homeownership.

Twice a year Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati hosts an event called “Rock the Block”. Rock the Block brings people together to strengthen neighborhoods by investing in the places we all call home. Hundreds of volunteers complete hands-on service projects that include painting, landscaping, minor exterior home repairs, community projects, and more!

On May 14th a group from RKPT joined the 10th Edition of Rock the Block. We were happy to get our hands dirty and do something good for the community. We were able to bring new life and color to Sands Playground in the West End of Cincinnati.

Madi's House

When RKPT moved into its new, fully furnished offices, the question was, “what do we do with all of the furniture and appliances being left behind?” One of RKPT’s paralegals, Debbie Sandhas, suggested donating to Madi’s House. Madi’s House is a free community center which offers support and activities for young adults battling addition and mental health issues.

Madi’s House was founded in memory of Madison (Madi) Raleigh, the beloved daughter of Stephen and Julie Raleigh, who died by suicide on January 17, 2019 after battling mental illness and addiction for many years. Madi’s House provides a welcoming, non-judgmental, upbeat, and enjoyable place where those battling addiction and mental illness can find support and a true sense of belonging and community.

The Annex on Glencrossing Way is the first phase of the plan for Madi’s House. It is the first and only relapse prevention and mental health community day center in Cincinnati. Renovations are currently underway on a 7,600 square foot mansion on Kipling Avenue which will serve as Madi’s House. Desks, tables, chairs, conference room furniture, and kitchen appliances donated by RKPT will help furnish Madi’s House.

Volunteer Lawyers Project

The Volunteer Lawyers Project recruits, trains, and supports volunteer attorneys who provide high quality legal services to low income individuals who do not have the resources to pay for legal representation. Attorneys Mardee Sherman and Tom Gaier have each been honored in the past as "Volunteer Lawyer of the Year."

DePaul Cristo Rey Corporate Sponsor

DePaul Cristo Rey High School in Cincinnati serves those families who want a private, college preparatory education for their children but cannot afford it without significant financial assistance. RKPT joined the program in 2013. When DePaul Cristo Rey made history by graduating its first class, the class achieved 100% college acceptance, earned $2.9 million in college scholarships, worked 58,000+ hours in Corporate Work Study Jobs, and earned $1.3 million toward their own tuition.

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House provides families with a home away from home while their children receive medical treatment. Each year RKPT participates in the Ronald McDonald House annual golf outing. A group of volunteers from RKPT prepares and serves dinner to the families of sick children residing at Ronald McDonald House.

On June 12th a group from RKPT volunteered to cook a Taste of Hope dinner at the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House.
