Depending on when and where you know him from, Chuck Rust answers to Chuck, Charlie, or Charles. He is an associate with the litigation practice group at Robbins, Kelly, Patterson & Tucker. His practice is diverse and has included general litigation, business disputes, real estate, employment law and restrictive covenants, appellate issues, and eminent domain. Admitted in both Ohio and Kentucky, Chuck is intentional about having variety in his practice and enjoys learning new things on a daily basis.
Born and raised in Northern Kentucky, Chuck graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2013. He went on to study law at Salmon P. Chase College of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2017. During his time at Chase, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, was a member of the National Arbitration Team, and was part of the inaugural class of the W. Bruce Lunsford Academy for Law, Business, and Technology Honors Program.
Before joining RKPT, Chuck handled a wide array of cases in both state and federal courts and consistently obtained positive results for his clients. He approaches his practice with intellectual curiosity and strives to exceed his clients’ expectations. The most satisfying part of his practice is getting to dig deep and become an expert on unexpected topics.
Chuck resides in Alexandria, Kentucky with his wife and young daughter and spends his free time with family, honing his cooking skills, or exercising.

- Obtained temporary restraining order, preliminary and permanent injunction, money damages, and award of attorney’s fees on behalf of corporate client in matters involving the breach of restrictive covenants and trade secret violations by an independent contractor (QFS Transp., LLC v. Huguely, 2022 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 21988 and QFS Transp., LLC v. Murphy, 2022 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 237514).
- Counsel for lender in litigated matter involving defaulted $1.7 million commercial loan. Matter resolved with full payoff, including attorney’s fees.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of seller in stock purchase agreement dispute where buyer defaulted on promissory note and counterclaimed for breach of contract and fraud.
- Negotiated settlement on behalf of injured party on claims for premises liability and product liability.
- Obtained judgment in favor of consumer on claims for shoddy workmanship and abandonment of work by contractor under Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act, including personal judgment against principals of contractor.
- Obtained favorable monetary settlement and repairs for homeowner in case against homebuilder for unworkmanlike home construction.
- Represented minority shareholders in breach of fiduciary duty claims against majority shareholder following reverse stock split.
- Represented private utility in appropriation actions pursuant to Ohio’s eminent domain statutes.
- Successfully represented lenders regarding commercial and residential loan defaults throughout Ohio and Kentucky.
